So that any one of these or the like phenomena may not seem strange or surprising to a man who has nicely observed and compared the effects of nature. There is therefore some cause of these ideas, whereon they depend, and which produces and changes them. They are the best of them tied up within those narrow bounds, and have not (as I think) the faculty to enlarge them by any kind of abstraction.
